Shnarped Launches New 'Instagram for Sports' Platform at Hashtag Sports Festival

Shnarped, a Canadian tech startup founded by Princeton hockey players, is announcing the launch of a new social media platform for sports video content. Shnarped is described as 'Instagram for Sports'. The app's easy-to-use video editing tools like slow motion, a moving spotlight, music, and fun stickers provide the primary differentiation over existing social networks. Since the app is all about sports, users can easily find, engage, and have fun with a community of like-minded individuals.

The company's first product, a hockey app, garnered over 100K downloads, adoption by 150 NHL players, and a deal from all five Dragons on the popular Canadian TV show The Dragons' Den. Insights from young athletes on their first app guided Shnarped in a completely new direction, and in March of 2015 the company initiated a major pivot into the sports social media space.

"Kids just want to have fun," says cofounder and CEO Dustin Sproat. "They told us making cool videos was really hard, and that there just wasn't a good place to post all their sports photos and videos. We built Shnarped for them.
