How does this represent “Excellence in Engagement”?
Micah Parsons gave fans one of the most unique opportunities in this athlete-led space, engaging with fans every week (even his bye week) to share his POV on everything that goes on in the league. Micah’s ability to host an engaging solo show, live in the Bleacher Report app from week to week, generated buzz across all NFL media.
Objective
Bleacher Report set out to create a show that would cement 2x Pro-Bowler Micah Parsons as one of the most knowledgeable and opinionated voices in the NFL. Within the athlete-led podcast space, it’s rare to find someone at his level who is willing to speak consistently and openly about the rest of the league. Micah does just that, giving NFL fans unique access to interact and challenge his opinions on a weekly basis.
Strategy & Execution
Bleacher Report recognizes the modern sports fan craves interaction and video consumption. With that in mind, B/R created a live experience that gave fans first access to Micah’s thoughts and opinions on the previous week of NFL action. Each episode was live in the Bleacher Report app, where fans could ask questions and debate his takes in real time.
Each opinion served as its own piece of content, carefully edited into a digitally-native social clip-out and distributed across our far-reaching Bleacher Report social channels. In addition, we launched ‘The Edge with Micah Parsons’ TikTok account, which grew to over 150k followers. This helped grow our reach and awareness for the show, while also encouraging fan interaction.
