Veteran marketer Christa Carone has joined global marketing agency CSM Sport & Entertainment as President of CSM North America as they expand their growth strategies with properties like US Club Soccer and New York Road Runners. Carone has over 24 years of experience in senior management and was most recently President of Group Nine Media, home to media brands Thrillist, NowThis, POPSUGAR, The Dodo and Seeker. There, she led revenue-generating operations, including sales, marketing, audience development and analytics as well as product, technology, and the company’s internal creative studio and experiential operations.
GumGum Sports, the leader in AI-powered sponsorship analytics, have announced the hiring of Dominic Zuccarini as Senior Vice President of Sales. Zuccarini will lead and expand the company’s domestic and international sales strategy. He will continue to further monetize GumGum’s Esports Sponsorship Management Platform (SMP), which allows esports organizations to seamlessly integrate sponsors into gameplay. Zuccarini brings more than 20 years of building and leading profitable, high-growth, SaaS and media sales organizations at companies such as Zendesk and big data and social analytics platforms Klout, Dachis Group and Involver.
Former Leicester Riders’ digital content specialist Joe Pinchin has been hired by the Chicago Bulls as their new Manager of Digital Content. Pinchin spent over a decade with the Riders’ and Loughborough basketball program, and made the announcement of his new venture via twitter. Before moving into the digital world, Pinchin played and coached tor the Riders, and was also part of the operations team.
Recently created Thrill One Sports & Entertainment has named Joe Carr as the new company’s Chief Executive Officer. Carr, the former UFC and World Surf League senior executive, will lead the combined entity which is made up of three industry-leading companies – Nitro Circus, Street League Skateboarding (SLS) and Superjacket Productions. The company is backed by commercial finance firm MidCap Financial, who have partnered with two of sports’ most respected investment firms – The Raine Group and Causeway Media Partners.
Former Ohio State student intern Kyle Dorony has announced that he will be joining the New York Rangers digital team as a shooter/editor. Dorony amassed an impressive portfolio during his time at Ohio State, and was selected as an IGTV Playmaker for the 2020 National Championship in New Orleans. Dorony was one of five students from four other CFP schools, highlighting his exceptional talent.
USL League One’s FC Tucson has filled a front office leadership position, naming former New Mexico United Chief Operating Officer Amanda Powers as its first president. In becoming president, Powers is only the second female club president in U.S. men’s professional soccer history. During her tenure with New Mexico United, the club led the USL Championship in attendance as well as ticket and merchandise sales.
Recently appointed San Francisco Giants’ assistant Alyssa Nakken is the MLB’s first-ever female coach. Announced as an assistant under new Giants Manager Gabe Kapler, Nakken will work with fellow newly appointed assistant Mark Hallberg to promote high performance. Nakken is a former softball standout at first base for Sacramento State and joined the Giants in 2014 as an intern in baseball operations.
After six years at Clemson University, Nik Conklin has announced via twitter that he will be taking the next step in his career at Betr. Conklin was part of Clemson Football’s media team, and was also a teacher during his time at the University. He will be a Video Lead at Betr, a company that focuses on unlocking development, mindfulness, and positivity for your generation.
