DraftKings Hires New CMO, Builds Sports Betting Team
Much like it’s all-out assault on TV ad spending during daily fantasy’s meteoric rise, DraftKings is going full steam ahead into sports betting. The fantasy sports provider turned sportsbook has hired Tom Goedde as it’s CMO, an industry veteran who spent 10+ years at EA Sports leading brand and athlete marketing. The company also announced the hires of Andy Yang as Chief Product Officer, Jamie Shea as Head of Digital Sportsbook Operations, and more.
Bleacher Report’s President Is Leaving, Won’t Be Replaced
After a decade with the company, Rory Brown is leaving his post as President. The company has plans to hire a Chief Content Officer to take his place. His departure comes at a critical time for Bleacher Report as they build their brand through Turner’s sports streaming service (B/R live) and look to expand through other brands, including House of Highlights.
Whistle Sports Parts Ways With CRO
The sports-centric digital content studio and multi-channel network has parted ways with CRO Paul Kelly after just one year at the helm. Kelly came to Whistle from his post as Chief Partnerships Officer at AwesomenessTV. The publisher has no immediate plans to replace Kelly, citing “dynamic changes” within the digital sphere.
NHL Trades for a VP of Programming and Development
Ross Bernard has been named VP of programming and development at the NHL. Previously, Bernard was the Senior VP of Original Programming for Epix, where he was one of the company’s first employees. At the NHL, Bernard will be responsible for shaping the league’s strategic content direction. He will report to Steve Mayer, Chief Content Officer at the NHL.
