Stacking Pennies with Corey LaJoie
- Best Sports Podcast
ABOUT THIS ENTRY
Stacking Pennies was created in February of 2021 with NASCAR driver Corey LaJoie diving deep into all things NASCAR, from the perspective of an active driver.
Corey has fought coming up through the ranks with his racing family trying to achieve the ultimate goal of one day becoming a NASCAR Cup Series winner, hence the name “Stacking Pennies”—a personal mantra of taking and stacking little victories.
How does this represent “Excellence in Engagement”?
Having the podcast in front of a live audience at the track reached out to the core fans of the sport and also elevated the in-venue and event experience. It gave fans the opportunity to engage with the professional driver they listen to every week. Fan engagement is key in NASCAR and there’s no better way to gain a fan than being at the track and talking about the sport that they’re about to watch in person.
Objective
Stacking Pennies was created in February of 2021 with NASCAR driver Corey LaJoie diving deep into all things NASCAR, from the perspective of an active driver. Corey has fought coming up through the ranks with his racing family trying to achieve the ultimate goal of one day becoming a NASCAR Cup Series winner, hence the name “Stacking Pennies”—a personal mantra of taking and stacking little victories. Corey and his group of NASCAR enthusiasts break down each week the news, drama, and action on and off the track. His passion and efforts to help NASCAR grow are key efforts in the podcast. The biggest names in the racing industry (Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Joey Logano, Kyle Larson) have all been guests on the show.
Strategy & Execution
The production of Stacking Pennies is usually shot in a studio, but in 2022 the podcast hit the road to have the hosts in front of a live audience at Darlington Raceway, Phoenix Raceway at Championship weekend, and at Race Service in Los Angeles for the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum. This enhances the entertainment value of the event itself as well as builds the podcast brand. Corey brings guests outside of the NASCAR industry (football star Alvin Kamara, German World Racing champion Mike Rockenfeller) to bridge the gap in industry relations.
