This star-studded piece was Episode 1 of CJ McCollum's new political talk show titled: ReMaking America, a PlayersTV production.

How does this represent “Excellence in Engagement”?

Donovan Mitchell who was raised by his mom, and went to a private school, didn't realize how segregated the students and system still are in some communities. Tobias Harris spoke on not being educated enough on the history of black activists and understanding the importance of voting. The idea was for CJ McCollum to lead in questions and ask Senator Harris all concerns their fans and community members were seeking answers for. Our hope was and still is for other athletes, influencers, and fans to speak out and ask the right questions. In turn, many did!

 

Objective: In efforts to raise awareness in local regions to get the youth community at large to participate in the 2020 elections, PlayersTV invited (then) Senator Harris as well as NBA Stars CJ McCollum, Tobias Harris and Donavan Mitchell to come together and discuss positive change and discuss conversations politicians aren't used to having to address so openly. Harris and the players discussed many social issues, including Police Brutality, Police Reform, Banning Chokehold, Education and what black communities can start doing to take back control of their communities in positive ways.

 

Strategy & Execution: Our strategy was to influence individuals and youth from specific hometowns of the featured athletes to go out and vote. The athletes spoke candidly about their upbringing and what connects them to the everyday young citizen. It's important for young sports fans to understand that these athletes are no different than them, as they also had similar circumstances during their upbringing. Mitchell, for example, who was raised by his mom, and went to a private school, didn't realize how segregated the students and system still are in some communities. Results:

Over 12 million combined views across social media with 200K+ worth of fan engagement online, (Youtube, IG, Twitter and TikTok) and our distributors via Sling and Samsung TV.
