More details are dribbling out about NBA Experience, a hands-on, basketball-themed attraction now under construction at Disney Springs.

The destination, which is expected to open in the summer of 2019, is being built on the former site of the long-standing DisneyQuest attraction, and will feature physical activities, mental challenges and other professional basketball experiences.

Visitors will be able to perform slam dunks (captured on camera) on adjustable baskets, experience the atmosphere of the NBA Draft, run through a series of timed shots and participate in a replica of the NBA Combine. They’ll also launch basketballs at hoops with an oversized slingshot.

The project, a collaboration developed by Walt Disney Imagineering and the NBA, is set to become the ultimate destination, melding immersive tech and interactive experiences to serve the connected fan in a way we've come to expect from the world's most cutting-edge league, and its biggest partner.

According to Alibaba, this is a precursor to building a major global online e-commerce platform for the games, which will sell merchandise ahead of Tokyo 2020 summer Olympic Games and the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

In 140 characters or less, tell us who you are and how you got to where you are today.

Edniesha: I am a Cali born and raised woman who fell in love with a round ball 27 years ago, that fought like hell to turn every obstacle and barrier into an opportunity to be the change she wanted to see in the world using basketball as her stage.

As a connected fan, what’s the best piece of sports content that you have recently consumed?

Edniesha: I have really enjoyed LeBron James content on HBO ‘The Shop” as well as Kobe Bryant ‘Detail series.” I love anything in which great athletes take the time to share what made them such great athletes for so long.

What’s one element of the sports industry that you’d like to see change?

Edniesha: I would like to see more women who are coaching men’s basketball promoted in the media for what they do on the court not just for their gender. I think more media outlets need to come into all these women’s work place and see how we actually work and understand we are not in this position because we are checking off a diversity box with human resources.

Amazon partners with NHL for Alexa content

The new function, known as a ‘skill’, will be available on Alexa-enabled devices in the US and Canada to deliver league news, schedules, scores, stats, standings, tune-in information, player profiles and puck drop reminders for each of its 31 clubs.

Once the skill is enabled, users can simply say: "Alexa, ask NHL", followed by the request. The deal also sees the creation of an NHL flash news briefing, which is updated daily and delivered by ice hockey broadcasters via the platform.
