Draymond Green, Victor Cruz to fund entrepreneurial effort in Flint with ex-Wall St. exec

Robert Wolf has teamed up with 100K Ideas and some of his celebrity friends to create and launch 100K Ventures.

What's 100K Ideas?

100K Ideas is a Flint-based non-profit that focuses on assessing entrepreneurial ideas before people consider turning them into businesses, and will be funded by investors Draymond Green, Victor Cruz and founder of Phenomenal Women Action Campaign, Meena Harris.

Last winter, 5th District Congressman Dan Kildee helped bring a bus tour of venture capitalists from the east and west coasts through Flint to showcase the entrepreneurial work being done in the city. Among those venture capitalists was Robert Wolf, who thought it would be a great idea to create an investment fund to support these ideas.

The bottom line:

Investors are attracted to 100K Ventures because of its unique model to engage and include many people in markets who wouldn’t normally have entrepreneurial support. Over time, they aim to expand the accelerator platform to other underserved communities.

Farfetch bets on sneakers with $250M Stadium Goods acquisition

The company, which sells new and deadstock products online and in a brick-and-mortar store in New York’s Soho neighborhood, was founded in 2015 by John McPheters and Jed Stiller. The sale to Farfetch provides a major boost to the sneaker tech ecosystem, which is surprisingly much larger than those who aren’t familiar with it might have guessed.

Together, Farfetch and Stadium Goods will focus on international growth.

New T-Wolves Gaming franchise logo unveiled

The Timberwolves’ new T-Wolves Gaming franchise in the NBA’s newish 2K League unveiled its logo and plans for a training center Tuesday as it prepares for a season that begins in April.

It also will closely resemble the design of the NBA 2K League’s Long Island City (New York) studio from which the league’s 21 teams will compete on alternating weekends from April through August. The game space will have exposed ceilings and an elevated gaming platform with six player stations for practices, events and streaming.
