Best Female Athlete on Social Media
As a dominant young force in tennis, Naomi Osaka is not only creating a name for herself on the court but also through the lens of a global social media presence. Vivid and artistic shots can be found on her ~secret~ Instagram while endearing (and sometimes awkward) interactions with Japenese musicians and understandable excitement over seeing her first sumo match are the types of content that paint her official channels.
While her U.S. Open victory fired her into mainstream status in the United States, Osaka has been a mainstay in Japan for a few years where she’s built an enthusiastic following. It’s easy to allow the massive billboards and huge endorsement deals get to your head, but part of what makes Osaka stand out amongst her peers on social media is her willingness to reveal a side of herself that leaves fans (and Naomi) forgetting that she’s actually a global icon.
Went to watch sumo for the first time in person with my dad, met Hakuhō who was the coolest...turned into a pretty cool evening 👍 pic.twitter.com/g1DAxvFnXF— NaomiOsaka大坂なおみ (@Naomi_Osaka_) September 15, 2018

Sorry I know I’ve posted a lot. Last one for a bit I promise 🙏 I just wanted to say this is so insane to me, to have a billboard outside the staples center?!!! Lost for words... I’m really grateful for this opportunity and I’m super excited for the future @nike 🤗❤️ thank you
