With ABC being the home of the NBA Finals, the ESPN social team's goal in 2018 was to present fans with smart, fun and socially-optimized engaging content around the NBA finals from start to finish. ESPN's social coverage strategy hits on multiple fronts, which are featured in our highlight reel.
First, we had on-site presence at every NBA Finals game where our team was capturing Instagram Stories which captured unique and exclusive footage in a raw and organic manner. We also work with our talent present covering the games to bring their expertise to the social audience. Lastly, our team covering the games in the live window are the ones turning out one-plays and reacting to the games' best moments seconds after they happen in real time. This led to some of our highest-engagement content ever. On Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, ESPN's NBA Finals social content produced over 800 posts, 38.4M engagements, and 1.3B impressions.
