Breanna Stewart

Best in Engagement for Change

How Does This Individual Represent “Excellence in Engagement”?

In the midst of the #MeToo movement, WNBA star Breanna Stewart bravely decided it was time she contribute to the conversation—and the push for societal change. After publishing an emotinally stirring piece on The Players’ Tribune openly discussing a childhood plagued by sexual abuse, Stewart found her voice and moved to help others do the same. Last year, the MVP partnered with RAAIN, an organization that helps survivors of sexual abuse find resources ranging from health facilities to information about local laws.

The once-shy Stewart is no longer afraid to speak her mind or show support for causes she feels closest to, recently tweeting her frustration with the lack of equal coverage for women’s college basketball after the NCAA’s official March Madness account posted a meme which seemingly forgot the women’s tournament existed and even joining a protest against the President’s travel ban at Los Angeles International Airport in the middle of rehabbing from an injury in 2017.
